Go UMass! OK— fair warning… proud DAD-D-O boasting: Sam’s UMass crew is undefeated through 50 races this spring! Enroute they’ve collected multiple championships and are getting ready to compete in the NCAA nationals on May 30th in Indianapolis. This last weekend they capped a fabulous visit to the Dad Vail Regatta in Philadelphia winning gold to also earn the Women’s title, the Evelyn Bergman Trophy (held by coxswain Heather Pekarovich in the center). The crew (from left) is Allanah Rubi-Mooney, Lauren St. Pierre, Sam Kolovson (Wayland), Candace Miller, Pekarovich, Pippa Edwards (Wayland), Marika Kopp, Emily Mann and Taryn Wilson. At right is Dad Vail name sponsor Aberdeen Asset Management CEO Gary Marshall who presented the trophy. UMass also won the Atlantic 10 Conference Championship a week ago to earn the automatic NCAA bid. Before that they swept the Knecht Cup in New Jersey and more… did I mention undefeated? Go U, Go UMass, GO-U-MASS! Other photos show Steffi showing off her Bronze medal in the Dad Vail single championship, the V8+ boat crossing the finish line and a happy mother celebrating (notice she’s NOT crying).
