The following are directions provided by Wayland-Weston Crew as clarification for how to find some of our more regularly attended races.

Lake Quinsigamond, Worcester, Mass.

  • Regatta Point
    From Boston and Eastern Massachusetts, Take the Massachusetts Turnpike or Route 9 West. Get off at Interstate Route 495 North. Get off at Interstate Route 290 West (Worcester). Get off at Exit 22 (Main St.). Turn right at the end of the ramp. Turn left at the second traffic light onto Plantation Street. Turn left onto North Road (between the Mercandante Funeral Home and UMass Medical Center). Proceed to Lake Ave and turn right. The park entrance is one hundred yards on the left.
  • Donahue Rowing Center
    From Boston and Eastern Massachusetts, Take the Massachusetts Turnpike or Route 9 West. Get off at Interstate Route 495 North. Get off at Interstate Route 290 West (Worcester). Get off at Exit 22 (Main St.). Turn right at the end of the ramp. Turn left at the first traffic light onto North Quinsigamond Ave. The DRC is a quarter mile on the right.

Merrimack River, Lowell, Mass.

  • Bellegarde Boathouse
    Follow either I-495 North or 128 North (i.e., I-95 N). Take to Route 3 North. Take exit 32 off of Route 3 at Rt.4 in Chelmsford. Take your first right at the stop at the top of the exit. Follow that straight through two sets of lights. At your third set of lights bear left through the fork. Follow this road straight through two sets of lights. At your third set of lights bear left through the fork (green arrow for left). Follow straight through two more sets of lights (Market Basket on left and White Hen Pantry on your right). This will put you on the Rourke bridge which passes over the Merrimack river. Take a right off of the bridge. The boathouse is 200 meters down on the right.

Mercer Lake, West Windsor, New Jersey

  • Casperson Rowing Center
  1. From Mass/RI/Conn/Eastern NY State, take GW Bridge to NJ Turnpike/ I-95. From New Jersey Turnpike, take Exit 8
  2. Follow signs for Route 33 Hightstown
  3. Take left at firehouse on Main St.
  4. Follow Main St (Rt 33 up to Junction of Rt. 130)
  5. Take right at first light (Hankins)
  6. Stay straight on Hankins for about 4-5 miles going thru several traffic lights. Hankins turns into New Village Rd and then into Village Rd.
  7. Take left on Post Rd.
  8. Follow Post Rd all the way down to Mercer Lake (boathouse on left)
  • Mercer County Park
  1. From Mass/RI/Conn/Eastern NY State, take GW Bridge to NJ Turnpike/ I-95
  2. From New Jersey Turnpike Exit 8
  3. After toll, follow signs for ‘Hightstown, Route 130′
  4. Follow road into Hightstown until it comes to a “T” (Fire Dept. in front of you)
  5. Take left at light onto Main St.
  6. Follow Main St. up the hill for about 1 mile (pass Home Depot on left)
  7. At the junction of Rt. 33 West and Rt. 130 veer left at traffic light
  8. Follow Rt. 130 for a short time until first light
  9. Take right on Hankins Rd.
  10. Follow Hankins Rd. for about two miles
  11. Take left on Old Trenton Rd. (traffic light)
  12. Follow Old Trenton Rd (go through traffic light at Edinburgh Rd.)
  13. “Mercer County Park” entrance is about 1/2 mile after Edinburgh Rd.
  14. Follow the park road for about 1/2 mile until you see regatta venue

Charles River, Boston and Cambridge, Mass.

  • Riverside Boathouse
  1. From the Massachusetts Turnpike (Interstate 90):
  2. Take the Pike to the Cambridge/Allston/Brighton exit
  3. After paying the toll bear right, following the signs to Cambridge
  4. Go straight through the traffic lights and over the bridge (over the Charles River) into Cambridge
  5. Once over the bridge make an immediate right turn onto Memorial Drive
  6. See the boathouse on the right, about 300 yards from the intersection
  • Finish Area Launch Site (FALS) for Head of the Charles Regatta

FOURS & EIGHTS:
Boat launching and storage space will be available at the Finish Area Launch Site (FALS) on Soldiers Field Road on the Boston side of the Charles River, between Eliot Bridge and Northeastern’s Henderson Boathouse. FALS consists of one large parking lot adjacent to the finish line, and three smaller lots nearer to Eliot Bridge. Trailers will be parked very closely together and not necessarily in close proximity to the launching docks. The Regatta will provide racks and space near the docks for storage and rigging of boats during the weekend.

DRIVING TO FALS:
I-90 (Mass Pike) East to Exit 18 Brighton/Cambridge. Follow signs to Cambridge. Proceed through several traffic lights and cross the Charles River via the River Street Bridge. Once across the bridge, take a LEFT onto Memorial Drive so the river is on your left. Continue for 1.6 miles. When the road forks (near the Cambridge Boat Club), stay to the left, following signs for Watertown/Newton. Proceed through the traffic light, staying in the left or center lane to approach the Eliot Bridge. While crossing the Eliot Bridge, move to the right, and then turn to the right, following signs for Newton. A Regatta Volunteer will meet trailers for registration and then direct them to a parking space. Please use the utmost caution when traveling on Soldiers Field Road, which is not designed for large vehicles. DO NOT attempt to drive under any overpasses on Soldiers Field Road. A portion of this route closes at 8:00 AM Saturday and Sunday.

  • Community Rowing, Inc. Boathouse

From Mass Pike (heading East into Boston)
Take Newton exit 17 off the Mass Pike. You will go up the ramp, past the Sheraton Hotel (which is located directly over the Mass Pike). Continue past the hotel until you see a sign for Charlesbank Road. Bear left onto Charlesbank Road and follow this road onto Nonantum Road. Enter onto Nonantum Road going East. You will go past the Newton Yacht Club and then immediately on your left is the MDC Daly Skating Rink. Our temporary site is located adjacent to the new boathouse construction after the playing fields.

Lake Harsha, Cincinatti, Ohio (US Rowing Youth Nationals)

  • Directions to Harsha Lake, East Fork State Park – using Rt. 125
    1. I-275 East to Beechmont Ave. – Rt. 125. Exit (#65).
    2. Follow Beechmont Ave – Rt. 125 East – for 9.5 miles.
    3. You will pass through Withamsville, Amelia and Mt. Holly. The road will change names – Stay on Rt. 125 East.
    4. Note: As you pass through Amelia watch for 25 mph zone, it is closely patrolled, even at 6am!
    5. The park turnoff is about 2 miles past the Verbargs Furniture Store on the left.
    6. At Bantam there is a light – turn left onto Bantam. Look for ‘welcome rowers’ sign. Drive .2 mile to the East Fork State Park entrance. Turn left into the park, and follow the signs to the Beach.
    7. Drive about .9 mile, passing a cemetery and church on the left. Turn left where the park signs indicate the Beach and continue on for .6 mile to the lake. You will go down a small hill, and the lake will be in front of you. The park is roughly 1hour east of Cincinnati.

Saratoga, NY (Head of the Fish)

Take I-90 W/Massachusetts Turnpike. Take exit B1 to merge onto I-90 W toward Hudson/Albany/RT-9. Take the exit onto I-787 N toward Troy. Take exit 9W to merge onto RT-7 W toward Saratoga Springs/I-87/Schenectady. Take the exit onto I-87 N toward Glens Falls/Saratoga Springs. Take exit 14 for RT-9P toward RT-29/Saratoga Springs/Schuylerville. Keep left at the fork, follow signs for RT-9P S/Saratoga Lake. Turn left at RT-9P/Union Ave. Saratoga Rowing Association Boathouse.

Head of the Housatonic, Shelton, CT

From the Northeast: Take the Mass. Pike (I-90) West to Interstate 84 West to Waterbury (Left-hand Exit 19). Take Route 8 going south. Take Exit 14 off of Rt. 8. Take a right onto Howe Avenue
(Rt. 110). Follow Rt. 110 north through Shelton for approximately 2½ miles. Indian Well State Park will be on the right.

New Hampshire Championships, Pembroke, NH

  1. Take exit 11 (North) ramp off I-93 (Pay Toll)
  2. Turn left (North) onto Hackett Hill Rd.
  3. Turn left (North) onto SR-3A (W. River Rd.)
  4. Turn right (East) at traffic light onto Main St.
  5. Proceed 0.4 miles turn left (East) onto Merrimack St.
  6. Proceed approximately 1 mile to Hooksett District Court
  7. Turn left into Hooksett District Court Parking lot
  8. Proceed 0.2 miles to boat house from Court Parking Lot
–Please do not park in the Courthouse Parking Lot

Crash-B World Indoor Rowing Championships

  • Agganis Arena, Boston University, Boston, Mass

From the West

  1. Take the Massachusetts Turnpike (I-90) East. Take Exit 18 on the left (Brighton/Cambridge).
  2. Follow Signs to Cambridge. At the second set of lights, turn right.
  3. Continue on Storrow Drive to the Kenmore Square Exit.
  4. At the first set of lights, turn right onto Beacon Street.
  5. Bear right at the far end of Kenmore Square onto Commonwealth Avenue.
  6. Continue on Commonwealth Avenue to Agganis Arena (approximately 1 mile).

Founders’ Day Regatta, Lake Waramaug, New Preston, CT

  1. Take I-90 W/Massachusetts Turnpike.
  2. Take exit 9 to merge onto I-84 W toward US-20/Sturbridge/Hartford
  3. Take exit 39 to merge onto CT-4 W/Farmington Ave toward Farmington
  4. Continue to follow CT-4 W
  5. Turn left at CT-4/Spielman Hwy
  6. Continue to follow CT-4
  7. Continue on CT-118/Litchfield Rd
  8. Continue to follow CT-118
  9. Slight left at CT-118/East St
  10. Continue on US-202/West St
  11. Follow Route 202 to New Preston. Take a right onto Route 45 and then a left onto North Shore Road. Continue around the lake to the park.
