A 2012 graduate of Brown University, Coach Carroll was a member of the Brown men’s freshmen eight for one year and varsity eight for three years. Her crews won Eastern Sprints twice, medaled at IRAs twice, and finished in the top five nationally each year. In the spring of 2012 her varsity boat was 2nd in the nation and made it to the finals of the Grand Challenge Cup at the Royal Henley Regatta.
Coach Carroll was introduced to the sport as a coxswain on the girls’ squad at Middlesex School. She also was a member of the 2011 USA Women’s Under 23 National Team, where she coxed the eight to bronze at the World Championships in Amsterdam. Additionally, she worked with youth rowers at Northeast Rowing Center in 2012 as an assistant to the coaching staff and a cabin counselor.
At Brown, Coach Carroll studied International Relations with a focus on the Middle East, particularly Lebanon and Egypt. While at Brown, she co-coordinated her team’s volunteer efforts at the Vartan Gregorian Elementary School, a public school distinguished for its high performance in closing the achievement gap among students of various backgrounds. There he love for working with young people and her interest in social justice issues grew. Other interests and hobbies include fitness, dance, dogs, reading, travel, and Boston sports teams.
